Avoid the Summer Slide

Avoid the Summer Slide

Online Summer practice

Summer slide is a term used by school professionals depicting the decrease in skills of students over the summer. It is my suggestion of a minimum of 30 minutes of academics 5 days a week not including reading time. Have a great summer!

5th Grade Promotional Exercise

5th Grade Promotional Exercise

Thursday, June. 15, 2017, our fifth graders will be having a ceremony to say goodbye to fifth grade and Pattengill. It begins at 2:00 PM. Students should wear clothes suitable for pictures in other words, Sunday's best clothes are perfect. Each student will walk across the stage and receive a certificate. The entire class will be singing a song, Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson, as chosen by the fifth grade class this year. Also, one representative from each class will be reading a 5th grade memories speech. Our representative will be Olivia as voted by her peers. PTO has gifted a treat bag for each student with a few items. There will be a photo backdrop in the gym for pictures.

If you wish to take your child home after the ceremony, you are welcome to do so. Many stay to receive signatures on their new Tshirts, gifted by PTO. There will be a TShirt signing on Friday, Jun. 16, 2017. Bring your Tshirt and sharpie.

Lyrics to Man in the Mirror.
I’m gonna make a change, for once in my life
It’s gonna feel real good, gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right...
As I turn up the collar on my favorite winter coat
This wind is blowin’ my mind
I see the kids in the street, with not enough to eat
Who am I, to be blind? Pretending not to see their needs
A summer’s disregard, a broken bottle top
And a one man’s soul
They follow each other on the wind ya’ know
’Cause they got nowhere to go
That’s why I want you to know
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
(If you wanna make the world a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change
